down in European documents, with particular emphasis on the use of digital technologies for lifelong learning, the establishment and assessment of quality standards and the professional development of teachers.<\/p><p>This report also includes guidelines detailing a comprehensive research methodology to be used to investigate how digital technologies have been integrated into higher education. The research was conducted using a sociological approach, employing a blend of qualitative and quantitative methods to explore the opaque organisational processes and to review the actual outcomes The comparative analysis extracts six development themes (clusters): (1) impact of digital innovation; (2) digital innovation strategies; (3) digital learning process; (4) digital innovation of higher education institutions; (5) impact of the pandemic on the teaching-learning experience; (6) international quality standards.<\/p><p>ECOLHE&#8217;s findings show that HEIs should follow the good practices of advanced countries, adapted to their national policies within a coherent legal framework. SLP is a collaborative and learner-centred approach useful to design lifelong and life-wide learning opportunities in higher education. As an approach to curriculum design, SLP aims to bring the learner to the centre as a co-designer in the process, in collaboration with the teacher.<\/p><p>The use of SLP is recommended in the curriculum design because it puts learners in the place of stakeholders in designing their curricula.
